Junior Assistant (General): Any graduate from a recognised university with 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC, ST and PwBD candidates).

One important point many people miss: your final year or semester result declaration month counts as the date you acquired the qualification. So if your result is not declared before the advertisement date, you may face trouble at document verification.

Age Limit and Relaxation

The minimum age for all posts is 18 years as on the date of advertisement (9 July 2026). The maximum age is 32 years for both Assistant Manager posts and 30 years for all other posts.

Age relaxation is available as per government rules:

PostPay Scale (IDA)

Along with basic pay, PSU employees usually get DA, HRA, medical benefits, PF and gratuity as per company rules.

Probation and Service Bond

Selected candidates will be on probation for 12 months from the date of joining. Completing 12 months alone does not make you permanent. Confirmation happens only when the management informs you in writing.

There is also a mandatory service bond. You must serve CCI for a minimum of 3 years after joining. If you leave before that, you have to pay 3 months' basic pay (calculated on your basic pay at the time of leaving). Keep this in mind if you are also preparing for other exams.

Selection Process

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT) - an online written exam
  2. Document Verification - for candidates shortlisted from the CBT
  3. Medical Examination - final appointment is subject to medical fitness

Minimum qualifying marks in the CBT are 40% for UR, EWS and OBC candidates, and 35% for SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates. Remember, just qualifying does not guarantee a call for document verification. CCI can raise the cutoff to limit the number of candidates.

Exam Pattern

  • 120 objective MCQ questions
  • 120 minutes duration
  • 1 mark for each correct answer
  • 0.25 mark deducted for each wrong answer

The sections are General English, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Knowledge, Basic Computer Proficiency (for most posts) and Subject Knowledge. The subject section carries the biggest weight at 60 questions, so your graduation-level subject preparation will decide your rank.

For Junior Assistant (General), there is no separate subject section. Instead, the paper has 20 questions each in English and Reasoning, 25 each in Maths and GK, and 30 in Computer Proficiency.

The subject syllabus differs by post. For Junior Commercial Executive, it covers agricultural marketing, agronomy, entomology, soil microbiology, field crops, organic farming and the cotton scenario in India and abroad. For Junior Assistant (Accounts), it covers financial accounting, cost accounting, taxation, business law, auditing and financial management. The full syllabus is given in Annexure I of the official notification.

Exam Cities

The CBT will be conducted in these 11 cities:

Mumbai/Navi Mumbai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Patna and Jaipur.

Candidates from West Bengal can select Kolkata as their centre. No request for change of centre, date or time will be accepted later, so choose carefully while filling the form.
