India Post GDS Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria regarding age and educational qualifications as of the last date of submission of applications.

Educational Qualification

  • Secondary School Examination: Candidates must possess a Secondary School Examination (SSE) pass certificate of 10th standard with passing marks in Mathematics and English conducted by any recognized Board of School Education.
  • Local Language: The applicant should have studied the local language at least up to the 10th Standard from a recognized board.
  • Computer Knowledge: Knowledge of computers is required.
  • Cycling: Knowledge of cycling is mandatory.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 40 years
  • Age Determination Date: As on the last date of submission of applications.

Age Relaxation: Upper age limit relaxation is applicable for reserved categories:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • PwBD: 10 years
  • PwBD + OBC: 13 years
  • PwBD + SC/ST: 15 years
  • EWS: No relaxation

India Post GDS Salary Structure

The GDS are paid emoluments in the form of Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA). The initial engagement TRCA slabs are as follows:

India Post GDS Selection Process

The selection process for GDS posts will be based on the following criteria:

  • Merit List: Applicants will be shortlisted for engagement on the basis of a system-generated merit list.
  • Criteria: The Merit list is prepared based on marks obtained in the Secondary School Examination of 10th standard aggregated to percentage to the accuracy of 4 decimals.
  • No Exam/Interview: There is no written examination or interview. Past experience or service of any kind will not be considered for selection.
  • Grades/Points: For applicants having only grades, subject-wise marks will be arrived at by applying a multiplication factor of 9.5.

Applicants must pay a fee of Rs. 100/- for all posts notified in the choice of Division. However, certain categories are exempted from payment.

Candidates must submit applications online at the official link. Follow these steps to apply:

  1. Visit the official website: https://indiapost.gov.in/gdsonlineengagement.
  2. Registration: Complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) using your active email ID and mobile number. Note down the generated Registration Number.
  3. Login: Log in to the system using the Registration Number and the password received via SMS.
  4. Fill Application: Select the Board, passing year, and enter marks obtained in the SSE (10th Class).
  5. Select Preferences: Select the Division and exercise preferences for the eligible posts.
  6. Upload Documents: Upload a recent photograph (JPG/JPEG, 30-100 KB) and signature (JPG/JPEG, 20-100 KB).
  7. Fee Payment: Pay the application fee of Rs. 100 (if applicable) through online mode.
  8. Final Submission: Preview the application and click on submit. Download the application for future reference.
